Agile Entrepreneurship Development
Program through International Collaborative Learning国際協働学習を通じて醸成するアジャイル・アントレプレナーシップ

INTERVIEW:Mr. Thomas Casson (The University of Sheffield)

Q1. What changed for you before vs. after the program?

I have become more confident in speaking and listening in Japanese. Furthermore, I have made many more international friends as a result of living in the student dorms that have opened many doors.

Q2. The most difficult part, and how you overcame it?

The most difficult part has been dealing with all the administrative tasks, whether it be government or university related. Thankfully, my student supporter has been very helpful in explaining and assisting me in sorting out all the paperwork, as have the global exchange department.

Q3. One concrete episode or interaction that shaped your learning?

Going to a Hiroshima Jazz bar and finding I could communicate fairly effectively with the owner and his patrons was a wonderful moment for me as it provided evidence that I could speak and be understood. This was really important for boosting my confidence and willingness to try speaking Japanese more.

Q4. One practical piece of advice for the next students?

Before leaving your home country, I would strongly suggest getting a Wise account. Many internationals here get hit with high currency transfer fees which Wise, as an international banking app, will help you avoid.
